Close Protection Services in London

Celebrities, politicians, bankers, high-profile or wealthy people often enlist Close Protection services when spending time in public or travelling to dangerous destinations. Close Protection Officers (CPOs), or bodyguards, keep clients safe from unwanted attention or physical harm. They are responsible for assessing security measures and providing discreet surveillance.

Lead Element Security offers Close Protection Services. The founding partners have themselves worked as Close Protection Officers for diplomats in international and hostile environments.

Trained Bodyguards

In recent years unpredictability in safety has been on the rise. Terrorist attacks, an increase in financially motivated kidnappings and armed robberies have changed the security landscape. Threats are becoming more complex and more diverse and countries, communities and individuals are increasingly alert and cautious of threats to their safety. More people are seeking the services of Close Protection Officers in instances of specific threats or when attending high-profile conferences, events or when travelling abroad.

Close Protection Officers or bodyguards are trained to mitigate both conventional and unconventional threats. In some instances, Close Protection Officers will work at their client’s home for long or short periods of time. Clients might choose to employ Close Protection Officers to secure their property and remain close by at all the time. In other situations, Close Protection Officers might only be needed when there is a specific threat towards the individual or the family.

There will often be a need for researching the situation before conducting a risk assessment and working out the best plan for the specific client and situation.

Protective Driving

As part of most Close Protection Services, there will also be a need for a Security Driver. Individuals under threat are often the most vulnerable during movements and the vast majority of attacks take place during transit. Especially in international hostile environments, road safety is one the biggest concerns.

At Lead Element Security, we also offer a Security Driver as part of our Close Protection team. To find out more about our Close Protection Services and how we can keep you or your clients safe, please contact us:

The Consequences of Protests and Demonstrations

From 7th of October there are scheduled climate protests in London, focused around the capital’s Parliament, surrounding government departments, bridges and main roads. It is Extinction Rebellion activists who are planning to shut down parts of central London for at least two weeks of October to demand government take urgent action to tackle the climate crisis.

In democratic countries all citizens have the right to engage in peaceful demonstrations. However it is worth noting that during periods of demonstrations and public protests, there are often correspondingly higher rates of attempted burglaries and home invasions. Opportunistic criminals will take advantage of local police enforcement’s attention and resources being diverted, resulting in fewer regular patrols and longer response time in cases of reported crime.

Lead Element Security advises to be extra attentive regarding the safety of your home or business these next couple of weeks. We have listed some general advise to keep your home safe:

Alarm systems

It is a very good idea to invest in an alarm system for your home. Not only will it alert you and the neighbourhood that someone is attempting to break in, it has also been shown to have a deterrent effect on burglars in the first place. Especially opportunistic criminals will avoid attempting to break in to houses that signal that they have alarm systems in place. So if you have an alarm system it is also important that you display signs on the outside showing this.

And remember to use your alarm system all the time not just when you go away on holidays or weekends – good home security needs to be part of your daily routine.

Show off your security

Generally it is a very good idea to advertise the security measures you have put into place to protect your house. As with your alarm system, displaying signs around your property showing that your home is being monitored and protected by a private security company or that you have CCTV in place, will help serve as a deterrent to would-be burglars.

…but don’t show off your valuables

We forget how much information can be gained from social media today. Social media pages such as Facebook and Instagram are often used as windows into your home, displaying the newest flat screen television you’ve bought, the art on your walls and the jewellery laying around.

The same logic applies to the outside of your house where discarded boxes of newly acquired goods can tempt the opportunistic burglar.

Be careful of convenience

We have all done it. Left the door open because we are just popping down to the corner store or hiding the spare key outside under doormats or in pot plants by the front door for the kids when they come home from school. But when it comes to keeping your home safe attention is in the details. Criminal gangs are known to stake out houses before they commit burglaries, assessing weaknesses in houses and rhythms of families, so there is absolutely no need to make it any easier for them by leaving keys out for them.

Using your natural perimeter defences

If your house or property already has natural perimeter defences such as fences or gates, it is very important you utilise these. Remember to keep them locked that way they will serve as an extra barrier to your house and it will make it harder for criminals to both enter and exit your property unnoticed.

Mobile Patrols and Physical Patrols

Engaging a private Security Company can sometimes be the solution for total peace of mind. This decision is often reached after having already experienced a burglary or hearing stories of home invasions from friends or families.

At Lead Element Security Group we offer different Security Packages depending on your specific need. We know that constant, full time security can be too costly for most families and as an alternative we recommend Mobile Patrol Units in combination with Physical Patrols. Mobile Patrol Units are highly effective when you need to create a visual deterrent and it is also a more affordable alternative to having onsite presence.

Lead Element Security provides a SIA-licensed, uniformed Mobile Patrol Officer in a patrol vehicle to visit your home or business. All our vehicles are equipped with CCTV and trackers capturing everything on our patrols. We provide random patrols at irregular hours, covering perimeters, access points and identified weak points.

Our Mobile Patrol Officer will conduct rapid response to alarm situations, conduct varied patrols of the exterior of homes, turning off non-essential lighting, checking and securing windows and doors, and resetting alarms if needed.

What are Physical Patrol

Uniformed tactical patrolling is the most traditional and widely used form of patrol. Simply put it is a Security Officer physically visiting a client’s home or business to check on the premises. Physical Patrolling involves checking a home, business or wider area to ensure that it is secure. Patrolling is traditionally needed during times of inactivity and non-occupation but can be during both day and night-time.

Physical Patrols often occur randomly and at a set number of times during day and night. The random nature of these patrols reduces the possibility of the patrolling Security Officer being timed by criminals aiming to invade the premises.

At Lead Element Security, we believe the key to effective security patrols is communication with the client. We make sure to evaluate the home or business in need of security and in dialogue with our clients, we determine their level of security needs.

Why are Physical Patrols effective?

Physical Patrols serve as a visual deterrent meaning that any criminals in your area will soon realise that the premises are regularly visited, making your site less attractive to potential vandals and thieves.

For many clients Physical Patrols in combination with Mobile Patrols have proven both a convenient and cost effective method of reducing problems such as:

  • Vandalism
  • Break ins
  • Theft of valuable metals and fuel
  • Theft of IT equipment
  • Vehicle Theft
  • Anti-social behaviour

Benefits of Mobile Patrol 2019

When it comes shopping centres, rural premises, industrial estates and large manufacturing sites, Lead Element Security believe that Mobile Patrols provide the most effective way to manage security. While static guarding can work well for some clients, mobile security guards work well over large properties or multiple sites because they are able to perform both scheduled and unscheduled checks of the entirety of business location or village they are guarding.

Below we have highlighted some of the benefits with Mobile Patrols:

Lead Element Security’s Mobile Patrols offer a strong visible presence

Strong visible deterrents are important when you want to keep your business, village or individual home safe from crime. Mobile Patrols in marked vehicles will provide a strong visual deterrent against crime. Regular checks undertaken by uniformed security staff will be noticeable to any criminals checking out your premises, and signage from Lead Element Security informing intruders of the fact that your site is under surveillance will further decrease the chances of your property being targeted.

Lead Element Security’s Mobile Patrols offer a rapid response time

At Lead Element Security we promise our clients a rapid response to any security incidents, whether it be an alarm sounding or an intruder being caught on CCTV. We will always have our Mobile Patrols on site or in close proximity to the business throughout the shift, thereby offering the possibility of stopping an on-going robbery and potentially gaining evidence for future prosecution.

In addition to this our mobile security staff record all incidents in logbooks, detailing any security events so that you have a record of what’s happened.

Lead Element Security’s internal patrols and key-holding

Some businesses benefit from internal patrols being conducted. At Lead Element Security our mobile security patrols are also able to monitor the interiors of buildings – we will check the on any expensive equipment and valuables, patrol designated rooms, remove any hazards and ensure that emergency exit routes are properly maintained.

Many clients also benefit from our mobile security officers serving as key-holders. With a key holder duty, the mobile patrols will have the ability to access your business location at any time of the day or night which allows them to shut off alarms if they falsely alert, open up or close down your business and ensure that you always have access to a working set of keys.

Mobile CCTV

Should you business require so, Lead Element Security also offer mobile CCTV units operated by our mobile patrol staff.

Keeping Your Street and Community Safe

logo

Residential Security – Keeping your street and community safe

Every individual, family and community would like to feel safe and secure in their homes. So how are you able to keep your street, community and village safe from general crime, from home robberies and vandalism?

Increasingly, we see smaller communities and villages band together in dedication and commitment to tackling crime and disorder and to improve the quality of life for all residents and visitors. Everyone has a part to play in reducing criminal and anti-social behaviour. Many neighbourhoods work in partnership with a wide range of agencies ranging from the police, to city councils to private security agencies to ensure that the quality of life is safeguarded.

Although it is the job of the Police to fight crime, we can all help to bring crime down. Luckily most crime is still against property, not the person and many crimes are not carefully planned. Most are opportunist, which means they are committed on the spur of the moment. Maybe the crime is triggered by possessions left on display in a car, doorway, or a window to a house left open. You can reduce this risk by taking a few simple steps to secure your home and car. A neighbourhood free from the opportunity of crime soon becomes a community free of crime.

Simple steps you can take in order to diminish opportunistic crime

Lead Element Security Group can offer a few steps that could make a huge difference in keeping your home safe from burglary:

  • Looking after your home: Make sure your front door is locked. Fit hinge bolts which stop someone pulling the door from its hinges. Fix a special steel strip into the door frame.
  • Strangers: Be alert to people loitering in residential streets. If it is no-one you recognise, call the Police.
  • Burglar alarms: Visible burglar alarms make burglars think twice.
  • Porch Roof: A thief could reach first floor windows from this roof, so fit window locks.
  • Gates and Fences: A high wall or fence at the back of a house can put off a burglar. Check for weak spots where a thief could get in. A thorny hedge along a boundary can also be a useful deterrent but make sure the front of the house is still visible to passers by, so that a burglar can’t work unseen.
  • Small Windows: Even small windows, like casement windows, skylights, or bathroom fanlights, need locks. A thief can get in through any gap larger than a human head.
  • Spare Keys: Never leave a spare key in a hiding place, like under a doormat, in a flowerpot, or inside a letterbox. A thief will look there first.
  • Garages and Sheds: Never leave a garage or garden shed unlocked, especially if it has a connecting door to the house. Lock tools and ladders away so that a thief cannot use them to break in.
  • Side passages: Stop a thief getting to the back of the house where he can work with less chance of being seen. Do this by fitting a bolt to a high gate across the passage.

Private security packages for communities and villages

Why not utilise that you live in a tight-knit community or village and band together to jointly employ a private security company?

At Lead Element Security Group, we actually recommend that villages unite when employing private security companies. That way you have the luxury of dividing the costs and are often able to employ private security officers in and around your village 24/7 and for a fraction of the cost you would be paying, if you were the sole recipient.

Providing the right form of residential security requires a thorough security assessment of the village, neighbourhood and house. At Lead Element Security Group we spend time understanding the security environment for each of our clients. We consider the general security environment of the residence, looking at the area as a whole and taking into account both current and historical trends in crime.

Today, alarm systems and CCTV are no longer enough to keep your home safe in London. A physical security presence is the number one deterrent for criminals. Lead Element Security provides SIA-licensed, uniformed Mobile Patrol Officers or static guarding in patrol vehicles to monitor your home or business. All our vehicles are equipped with CCTV and trackers capturing everything on our patrols. Our Mobile Patrol Officers will conduct rapid response to alarm situations, conduct varied patrols of the exterior of homes, turning off non-essential lighting, checking and securing windows and doors, and resetting alarms if needed.

Combating Anti-Social Behaviour

Many neighbourhoods in London, Essex, Sussex, Surrey and Kent but also more rural areas are experiencing increasing problems with what is generally described as anti-social behaviour.

Anti-social behaviour often covers a variety of unacceptable activities, including elements such as vandalism, graffiti and abusive neighbours or intimidating groups taking over public spaces. It is important to take action against anti-social behaviour as it can ruin the quality of your everyday life and it can create an environment where more serious crime is able to take hold.

What you should expect from you local authority

Anti-social behaviour is increasingly being recognised as a serious problem by local councils and police. Your council, your local police force and social landlords have the responsibility and the powers to deal with anti-social behaviour problems.

The majority of local councils have a named person or a neighbourhood policing team to whom you can report anti-social behaviour. Your elected local councillors are there to work with you and others to solve problems in your neighbourhood. You should be able to expect them to act on your behalf to raise concerns with the council and other organisations and report back to you what has happened as a result of your action.

They should have tools such as parenting orders and premises closure orders or ASBO’s, which is an antisocial behaviour order, given out by a court, to stop a person from behaving in certain ways or doing certain things. It’s not meant to be a punishment – the idea is to prevent further distress and alarm caused by antisocial behaviour. An ASBO is a civil court order. This means that it is not a criminal conviction and therefore does not give a person a criminal record.

How to tackle anti-social behaviour?

You should be able to expect the police and your council to tackle anti-social behaviour and make it a priority to combat it by responding professionally. But it is also clear that resources are sometimes stretched thin and while your local police and council may be doing everything within the limit of their resources sometimes that just is not enough.

Reporting anti-social behaviour when you see it is a very important first step. By organising community support groups that have both physical meetings and an online presence, you are creating a safe space to discuss both personal experiences and ideas for solutions.

When you come forward to report anti-social behaviour you may prevent the same problem happening again and you are helping make your community a safer place. Evidence from victims and witnesses is important because it demonstrates the distress and annoyance of anti-social behaviour, and shows how it damages the community.

How LEAD ELEMENT can assist in combating ant-social behaviour.

If your village or neighbourhood is experiencing trouble with anti-social behaviour, we recommend you consider jointly hiring a private security company to help you combat these problems. If you bond together in your neighbourhood, you would be able to burden share the cost of hiring private security while enjoying all the same benefits.

A physical security presence can combat anti-social behaviour in your village and is the number one deterrent for crime. Lead Element Security provides SIA-licensed, uniformed Mobile Patrol Officers in patrol vehicles to monitor your neighbourhood or village. All our vehicles are equipped with CCTV and trackers capturing everything on our patrols. We provide random patrols at irregular hours, covering perimeters, access points and identified weak points.

Our Mobile Patrol Officers will conduct rapid response to alarm situations, conduct varied patrols of troublesome public spaces, the exterior of homes, turning off non-essential lighting, checking and securing windows and doors, and resetting alarms if needed.

How To Keep Your Village Safe

It is becoming increasingly popular for rural areas and villages in the UK to employ private security companies in order to tackle anti-social behaviour, home robberies and vandalism.

Due to police cuts and overstretched resources, local police are often not in a position to respond to anti-social behaviour such as threats of violence, late night noise and loud music and often response time to burglaries is too long to present any deterrence or hindrance. Because of this, villages decide that banding together and employing a private security company is the solution for them.

Step 1: What YOU can do.

According to UK police, homes with no security measures in place are five times more likely to be burgled than those with simple security measures. Lead Element Security Group can offer a few steps that could make a huge difference in keeping your home safe from burglary:

  • Lock your doors and windows every time you leave the house, even when you’re just out in the garden, remembering to double-lock UPVC doors (lift handle and turn key)
  • Hide all keys, including car keys, out of sight and away from the letterbox
  • Install a visual burglar alarm (as part of a suite of prevention measures – a burglar alarm on its own will not prevent entry to your home)
  • Install good outside lighting
  • Get a trusted neighbour to keep an eye on your property
  • Leave radios or lights in your house on a timer to make the property appear occupied
  • Make sure the fences around your garden are in good condition
  • Secure bikes at home by locking them to an immovable object inside a locked shed or garage
  • Keep ladders and tools stored away; don’t leave them outside where they could be used to break into your home
  • Ensure side gates are locked to prevent access to the rear of the property
  • Ensure rear fencing is in good repair
  • Improve natural surveillance at the front of your property i.e. trim high hedges
  • Consider joining or forming a neighbourhood Watch group.
  • Remove valuables from view of ground floor windows

Step 2: What LEAD ELEMENT SECURITY can do.

Provided the right form of residential security requires a thorough security assessment of the neighbourhood and house.

At Lead Element Security Group we spend time understanding the security environment for each of our clients. We consider the general security environment of the residence, looking at the area as a whole and taking into account both current and historical trends in crime.

Every neighbourhood has specific strengths and vulnerabilities that need to be identified in order to determine the level of targeting it faces from criminal gangs. The proximity, prosperity and protection of your neighbour will also affect the security of your home. The close neighbourhoods surrounding the residence likewise should be evaluated, since crime can often spill over from other areas.

The layout of your street also plays a crucial role in security assessments. Streets with easy access to the neighbourhood from the outside could be attractive to criminals because they offer easy entry points and rapid escape routes after burglaries.

Criminals, looking to stake out houses undisturbed, often seek out residential areas with unkempt common spaces with overgrown trees and bushes, vacant lots or abandoned houses.

Lead Element Security Group will also evaluate the effectiveness and resources of local law enforcement and time for emergency response in the residential area. The police’s presence and likelihood of response, factors into the security considerations and needs for your home.

Step 3: What LEAD ELEMENT could offer.

Today, alarm systems and CCTV are no longer enough to keep your home safe in London. A physical security presence is the number one deterrent for criminals.

Lead Element Security provides SIA-licensed, uniformed Mobile Patrol Officers in patrol vehicles to monitor your home or business. All our vehicles are equipped with CCTV and trackers capturing everything on our patrols. We provide random patrols at irregular hours, covering perimeters, access points and identified weak points.

Our Mobile Patrol Officers will conduct rapid response to alarm situations, conduct varied patrols of the exterior of homes, turning off non-essential lighting, checking and securing windows and doors, and resetting alarms if needed.

What are Mobile Patrols

Mobile Patrols are something that private homes or businesses of any size can benefit from. They are specifically meant to give you a regular physical security presence at either your home or business.

A Security Officer in a branded security vehicle will arrive at your site at different times throughout the day or night and will conduct patrols at key points of your home, property or business to ensure it is secure.

The Security Officer will check vulnerable areas of your property and ensure your overall security is intact. Issues such as open windows or doors will be rectified instantly and a full report sent to the customer. This enables facilities managers to address concerns with negligent employees and means they have clear evidence on hand should they need it.

Should it happen that the Security Officer disturbs a criminal in the act, Security Officers at Lead Element Security are fully trained in conflict resolution. If they spot that a break-in has occurred, they are also trained in crime scene management, thereby ensuring any evidence is preserved for the police investigation.

Mobile Patrols are a more affordable option than static guards at your business site or home. While a static or manned guard will normally have a base at your site in which they will sit, patrolling periodically, with Mobile Patrols the Security Officer will instead continue on to visit another customer’s site after your patrol. This makes mobile patrols the most cost effective method of having your business regularly checked.

Why are Mobile Patrols effective?

Mobile Patrols serve as a visual deterrent meaning that any criminals in your area will soon realise that the premises are regularly visited, making your site less attractive to potential vandals and thieves. Furthermore Mobile Patrols are random and never form a pattern so nobody can predict when the next one will be.

For many clients Mobile Patrols have proven both a convenient and cost effective method of reducing problems such as:

  1. Vandalism
  2. Break ins
  3. Theft of valuable metals and fuel
  4. Theft of IT equipment
  5. Vehicle Theft

Mobile Patrols are normally chosen by businesses which realise the impact that a lack of business continuity could have on their operations.

Keeping Vacant Homes Safe

If you are the lucky owner of a holiday home, a string of rental properties or maybe you simply travel a lot, leaving your own home vacant for periods of time, then you know that this comes with a series of concerns and responsibilities. It is your responsibility to maintain the property and continuously ensure that your property is safe from crime, burglaries and vandalism – a feat that is further complicated by the fact that you may not physically be on the property on a daily or even weekly basis.

Holiday rentals are getting ever more popular in the UK.  The past decade has seen an increase of 1.7 million holiday properties nationwide.  With the increase use of sites such as Air BnB many non-traditional cities are also seeing visitors choose private holiday rentals as an alternative to hotels.

If you currently travel a lot leaving your house vacant for periods of time, own a holiday home or are considering investing in one, Lead Element Security will offer you some advice about how to protect your rental or vacant property with necessary security procedures:

CCTV

CCTV cameras offer you the possibility of monitoring your home or rental properties remotely from any location. Especially at remote properties away from neighbours, CCTV cameras can provide you with peace of mind, so you don’t have to visit your property on a daily basis.

CCTV also often has a preventive effect on criminals because they know the records can be used as evidence in court.

Alarm System

It is advisable to invest in an alarm system. Alarm systems will notify you, a trusted neighbour or a private security firm who can respond to incidents if triggered. When dealing with alarm systems, it is important to have regular service checks to ensure alarms are working at all times.

Sensor Lights

Automatic sensor lights are an extra defence against trespassers and provide the impression that your home or rental property is being monitored. When triggered, they will make hiding more difficult by emitting powerful beams of light.

Key Safes

For rental properties it is wise to invest in a secure key safe that can be opened using a PIN code. Too often spare keys are hidden in flowerpots or under doormats, making it easier for burglars to gain access.

Secure locks

Secure doors, windows and any other openings that could allow easy access to your home or rental property with quality locks.  Too often we see open windows or doors in especially the Summer time. Outdoor storage areas should also be securely locked and equipment such as ladders and expensive tools should safely locked away.

Fireproof

Unplugging and switching off all electrical equipment can prevent the likelihood of overheating and thus prevent a fire. Check that fire alarm batteries are fully charged and test that they work, especially in the winter when temperatures can affect alarm functionality.

Flood Proof

For rental properties it is important to drain all your pipes before you vacate the property for long periods of time, or simply turn off the water supply. During cold winters your holiday home should have a fully operational, thermostat-controlled central heating system that is set to maintain a minimum constant temperature of five degrees Celsius including the attic. By heating the house, you will stop unfortunate occurrences like freezing pipes and damp.

Keys with Trusted Contacts

When leaving your home vacant during summer holidays or extended periods of travel, it could be a good idea to leave a key with a trusted neighbour, family member or friend. Ideally choose someone who lives nearby or engage a private security company, so that if any incidents do occur, they can swiftly attend to your home. This could also serve as a deterrent for criminals as the house will look as though it’s being lived in.

Regular Mobile Patrols

If you own a string of rental properties, it could be worth considering hiring a private security company to conduct Mobile Patrols. Regular checks on your property, not just when there are people staying in it, but throughout the year, will ensure that your holiday home is less likely to be broken into.

Lead Element Security provides SIA-licensed, uniformed Mobile Patrol Officers in patrol vehicles to monitor your vacant home or rental property.

Home Security in London

To be relaxed and at peace in your home, you need peace of mind. You need to know that what you value most—your home, your assets, and your family—are safe and secure from theft, burglary and vandalism. Lead Element Security Group will help you keep the inside and outside of your home safe.

Investing in home security has never been more important. Burglary is the fastest growing crime in the UK; especially London is experiencing a surge in burglaries from overseas criminal gangs targeting affluent houses and entire villages. The police have been experiencing cut backs and are facing other types of obligations such as fighting terrorism, leaving little to no time to responds to burglaries and home invasions. But by implementing simple security measures and allying yourself or your neighbourhood with a private security company, you can keep your home safe.

At Lead Element Security Group we recommend having multiple layers of security in place such as signs displaying the property being protected by a private security company, gates, fences or walls at the perimeter of your house followed by floodlights, CCTV, alarms and locks on doors and windows.

In addition we have listed some very practical and easy first steps for you to take to keep your home protected:

As with your alarm system, displaying signs around your property

showing that your home is being monitored and protected by a private security company or that you have CCTV in place, will help serve as a deterrent to would-be burglars.

Left the door open because we are just pooping down to the corner store or hiding the spare key outside under doormats or in pot plants by the front door for the kids when they come home from school.

Residential Security Team RST

Burglary is the fastest growing crime nationwide. We see criminals getting more organised and more violent when it comes to targeting homes for break-ins. The Christmas season closely followed by the Summer period are the peak periods for break-ins.

Criminals who seek out homes and vehicles to rob often target affluent areas. With London being home to the most expensive properties in the UK it is also a city experiencing an ever-increasing rate of burglaries, making residential security in London more important than ever. With major cuts to the police force, burglaries have once again become attractive for organised criminal gangs targeting the homes of London.

Assessing your security needs

Security Services to keep you home safe

Choosing The Right Security Company in 2019

Choosing the right private security company for your business is an important decision but it is also a difficult one. It is vital that the security company is a company you feel truly comfortable with; you are in effect placing a lot of trust into their hands. Not only is it important that the private security company will provide the best possible service but it is also important that they listen and understand your specific needs and concerns.

At Lead Element Security Group we pride ourselves on the long term and strong relationships we build with our clients. Our clients range from high net worth individuals and private homeowners to business owners, gated communities, industrial sites and even whole villages.

Lead Element Security Group understands that our Security Officers will not only protect your business from criminals and vandals, their daily presence will also be part of your staff- and customers’ experience and as such there are some important points to consider:

Security Officers as a presence and deterrent

Visible security officers convey an image of safety. Their presence whether it stems from routine mobile patrols or static patrols, signals the likelihood of an immediate response in case of attempted crime and the possibility of acting as a point of contact to anyone who seeks assistance in an emergency.

The Security Officers’ presence on you premises, greeting employees and customers will signal a customer-friendly environment and will give the notion that both your staff and customers are appreciated and valued by your business.

Technological advancements and Artificial Intelligence are important features in today’s world, but we know from our clients that the actual physical presence of a Security Officer for advice, for interaction and for reporting potential threats is a very important and valuable part of making your staff feel safe. Also if customers can receive personable and physical recognition from Security officers, it will help individuals who perhaps feel lonely, or in need of a friendly face during a busy day.

Security Officers working with your employees

When it comes to preventing crime, your employees could be one of your best assets, if trained correctly. Lead Element Security Group can work with your employees creating employee guidelines, educating your staff in security measures and giving them a proper understanding of physical threats in the environment they work in every day.

CCTV

Updated CCTV, alarm systems and mobile patrols are all areas that are import to security and which will contribute to making your customers and staff feel safe.

With CCTV you will be able to monitor remote locations at any time of day or night. Security Officers can assist in pointing out the best places to install the cameras by identifying places, which are difficult to monitor physically.

How To Prevent Supermarket Theft

Theft is always a risk whether you are the owner or manager of a small convenience store or a chain of supermarkets. From police reports we know that supermarket theft is rising in England and due to police cuts it is seldom a police priority.

At Lead Element Security Group we understand the deliberations private retailers face when considering private security as an option. Every retail shop is under an increasing threat of crime – ranging from shop lifting to armed robbery with CCTV as the only actual security measure in place. The cost is not only financial it also puts pressure on the staff having to consider their safety and whether or not to confront a perpetrator.

Below we offer some advice on how to minimise the threat of theft to your supermarket, convenience- or general retail store:

Visible Security Guards

Security guards are an effective visual deterrent. It sends a signal to potential criminals that professionals are monitoring your store.

Security guards can be deployed either as static guards or mobile security, closely monitoring doors, checkouts and patrolling the aisles. It will also alleviate stress and fear in your employees, knowing that it is not their responsibility to confront potential criminals.

CCTV

CCTV cameras are an important part of retail security. Placing CCTV near entrances and exits, at till points and outside the premises are ideal. It is also a good idea to install CCTV in locations that are hard to see or gain access to quickly.

CCTV recordings offer the unquestionable proof in potential court proceedings and because of this is will often act as a deterrent of theft.

Lead Element Security Group can assist and advice in the installation of CCTV cameras.

Monitor Self-Service Tills

Self-service tills are smart and practical but they are also among thieves’ favourites ways to steal from retail stores. Thieves will attempt to pass off expensive items as cheaper ones or simply neglect to scan them at all. By placing security guards close to the self service tills, thieves will feel scrutinised and this will act as a deterrent.

Watch Customer Behaviour

Behavioural Detection is defined as the methodical, scientific and systematic appraisal of people’s behaviour when under stress in an environment through observation, assessment and decision-based operations.

It is a skill-set regularly used throughout the UK by law enforcement agencies to identify potential threats from those with intent to commit a criminal offence. Those with malicious intent are proven to display high levels of physical, psychological and involuntary reactions, particularly when exposed to additional stress factors such as the presence of a trigger – e.g. a uniform, security, police or a security feature such as a camera or checks.

At Lead Element Security our employees are not only SIA qualified with military background but also are fully qualified Level 2 Behavioural Detection Officers (BDO).

Mobile Patrols outside of operating hours

Almost all retail shops are targeted during the silent hours. Criminals are getting bolder in their actions to gain entry into shops and department stores, often using heavy plant machines such as bulldozers, which are often stolen too.

We believe our strength as a security company lies in operating outside the trading hours, and monitoring the stores during the silent hours.

We deploy both Mobile Patrols and Physical Patrols in marked Lead Element logo vehicles or at other times we may use unmarked vehicles if required.  However we have found that overt Mobile Patrol Units functions as the best form of deterrence to would-be criminals, and opportunists.

Keeping Safe in London

London is a fantastic city full of life and culture, beautiful parks and old pubs.  But it is also one of the world’s biggest cities and as such can be a dangerous city.  The city has seen a rise in home invasions, burglaries and theft.  There has also been a rise of stabbings and as of June the murder toll was 59 in London just this year.

There is no need to be afraid in London but there is a need to be alert and sensible and take the necessary precautions whether out and about or in the privacy of one’s home.

Street crime is often opportunistic and Lead Element Security Group can offer some simple advice to keeping safe on the streets of London and in your home.

Being safe on the streets – be assertive, aware and trust your instincts

It is important to be assertive and walk with confidence in public spaces. This will make you appear in control and much less vulnerable to opportunistic crime.

It is also important to be aware of your surroundings, to be able to read your environment. Being aware is easier if you look up instead of down at your phone and if you avoid listening to loud music or podcasts through headphones. Much street crime happens from thieves on two wheelers that ride up behind you and steal your bag

Keep your valuables including your mobile phone, wallet and jewellery hidden. Always keep a separate bit of cash somewhere else on you so, even if you are a victim of crime, you will always have enough money to get back to your home. A good rule of thumb is always to carry enough money to get a taxi or have a fully charged phone to order an Uber.

Try to avoid walking alone at night in places such as parks and side streets or any unfamiliar environment. If you do have to walk, stick to busy places where there is a lot of activity, CCTV and good lighting. If you feel unsafe in an environment you are in, trust you instincts and get away.

Keeping safe in your home – vigilant neighbours, good locks and private security

The houses in London are typically row or terrace houses with doors at the pavement. With houses like these it is easy for people – and opportunistic criminals – to see whether or not you are at home.

Many residents have lived in their neighbourhood for decades. A tight-knit neighbourhood can keep a lookout for each other, keep an extra eye out during holidays and they will know if something is not quite right.

Pay special attention to the main deadlock. Many houses experience break-ins when they forget to lock the main lock. Burglars will often use something as simple as a small sheet of plastic to open the door often simply relying on finding the weakest protected house in a row of houses or neighbourhood.

The installation of CCTV, home alarms or clearly visible signs out front informing that your house is protected and monitored by a private security company will often work as a deterrent on burglars.  Mobile Patrols in marked vehicles at random hours of the day and night in combination with Physical Patrols by licensed SIA officers will signal to any criminal targeting a house or neighbourhood that they would have more luck elsewhere.

Knowing that private security is only minutes away, can also serve to alleviate feelings of insecurity and anxiety over break-ins.

Crime Prevention in Rural Areas.

The English countryside is a beautiful tranquil place to live and to have you business but rural areas present specific security challenges. The remote nature of rural homes and businesses make them easy targets for criminals causing financial strain and significant worry to owners.

In July 2018 The National Rural Crime Survey published that 69% of farmers and business owners in rural areas had been victims of crime over the past 12 months.

Lead Element Security Group offers rural businesses and homes help to prevent such crime.

General Security

Lead Element Security Group can assist in improving your general security level. It is important to ensure you have an effective locking system on buildings, outbuildings and other property. Effective locking systems are deadbolts, padlocks and chains. This is a basic step to prevent opportunist crime.

Gates and strategically placed physical barriers such as fences will make it difficult for vehicles to enter and exit your property quickly. Burglar alarms with infra-red motion detection and security lighting in yards and driveways will both help to deter criminals, while also alert you to any unwanted people on your property.

Lead Element Security can assist in installing CCTV on your property, which can act as a deterrent and can also help with identifying criminals.

We also offer Mobile and Physical Patrol Units of your property at random hours which will serve as a strong deterrent against any criminals targeting the area. Our signs in front of your property signalling we monitor your property and the neighbouring area could also act as deterrence for criminals.

Vandalism

A significant problem for many rural homes and businesses is the problem of vandalism. Huge losses to farms are each year caused by thoughtless vandalism. It can be anything from broken windows to damaging property and may even result in arson.

Lead Element Security Group recommends installing or upgrading perimeter security features such as locked gates and fences in addition to security lights and CCTV. These security features will help deter vandalism on your property.

Equipment

Vehicles, farm machinery and tools are expensive and necessary equipment. Make sure these are kept locked and out of sight when not in use. They should be stored in locked sheds when not in use and fitted with immobilisers such as hitch locks, wheel clamps or ground anchors for extra security.

Vehicles that are marked with the CESAR marking system, etched VIN numbers in the glass and have a tracking device installed are less attractive for thieves.

Metal and diesel theft

Incidents of metal theft are closely linked to the demand and price of metal. In recent years farms and outbuildings in rural areas have experienced an increase in theft of metal. This type of crime is more often targeted rather than simply opportunistic.

Ways of avoiding such targeting would be to secure any scarp metal in secure buildings or containers and have access to the property be restricted and secured with perimeter features as mentioned above. Lead Element Security Group can provide advice on risk mitigation on your specific property.

As with metal, diesel theft is also on the rise. To help prevent theft, make sure you store fuel in a secure tank with a high-quality lock. Diesel dye is also an option, making your diesel traceable which will help serve as a deterrent for thieves.

How To Keep Your Home Safe?

Summer holidays are approaching which means it’s time for travelling with friends or family and it’s time for long Summer nights picnicking at the park or relaxing at the pub. Unfortunately it is also a time for break-ins.

Even though break-ins can happen at any time the highest percentage of break-ins occur during the Summer time while people are away on vacation or start leaving windows and doors open to enjoy the Summer weather.

Most criminals are opportunistic; they will look for weak points, watch and wait until the right moment before attempting a break-in. But there are a few easy precautions you can take to help keep your home safe:

  1. Always lock your windows and doors; even if you only leave your house briefly, are in your back yard, or inside your home.

  1. Never hide keys outside.

  1. Remember to change pass-codes on electronic locks and garage doors from time to time.

  1. Install security alarm, motion sensor lights, deadbolt locks and upgrade patio/sliding glass door locks.

  1. Trim shrubs and bushes to eliminate hiding spots.

  1. Don’t post your vacation plans on social media.

  1. Always change the locks when you move into a new home or if your keys are lost or stolen.

  1. Ask a neighbour to pick up your newspapers, pamphlets and anything else to avoid them building up in your absence signalling an empty home.

  1. Place security signs out front to signal that a private security company is protecting your home.

  1. Mobile patrol units patrolling your home and neighbourhood regularly will deter criminals.

Summer Holiday Security Packages

At Lead Element Security Group we offer specialised Summer Holiday Security Packages. We know that constant, full time security can be too costly for most families and as an alternative we recommend Mobile Patrol Units in combination with Physical Patrols. Mobile Patrol Units are highly effective when you need to create a visual deterrent and it is also a more affordable alternative to having onsite presence.

Whats happening this week?

London BLOODBATH: Man fighting for life after DOUBLE stabbing in Tower Hamlets

Police were called to Mile End Road at 4.30pm on Sunday after two men were found with stab wounds in St Paul’s Way.  A 23-year-old man was taken to hospital, where his condition is described as life-threatening.  The second victim, who police said is believed to aged in his 20s or 30s, sustained less serious injuries.

When does it end? it doesn’t!  So this week we are in talks with local citizens of London & homeowners in London regarding their safety, we have managed to collectively get neighbours in the streets of London & Essex to come together and take a look at coming on board with 24 hour security, where we patrol your streets and after a hugely productive week last week dropping leaflets in and around Hampstead the response we have had is fantastic.  If you had 24 hour Mobile Patrol of your house by ex Armed Forces veterans wouldn’t you feel safe?

This week our aim is to speak to as many people as possible in London & Essex, regarding the crime in their area and ensure that we are giving bespoke security packages to ensure you are feeling safe in your home.
